I research the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 12,000,000 surviving rcds for abt 65% of Irish counties. Rcds are increasingly sparse B4 1840, rare B4 1800. Note 1 - Without a KNOWN parish, the chance of an ancestor's rcds NOT being in this database is AT LEAST 35%. Note 2 - Only 1/2 of Co. Cork's rcds are in this database. Note 3 - The RC church kept control over most parish rcds from Tipperary (north). These are ONLY available thru the Tipperary Family History Research center at a substantial fee (regardless of outcome). If you had listed the exact info from the 1870s, it would have made this search soooooo much easier. I started by trying to find B rcds for Michael, Martin and Jer(emiah) Carey in the 1850s with a father named Daniel. I only found 1 rcd for a Martin in 1857 Roscrea parish, Tipperary. For Bridget Tracey M 1850 +/- 4 yrs somewhere in Ireland, I found 21 rcds in many counties. For Dan(iel) Carey M ditto, I found 2 rcds: 1846 Tipperary, and 1848 Cork. Neither was a match with any of those for Bridget. For Bridget Tracey B 1830 +/- 4 yrs somewhere in Ireland with a father named Martin, I found 0 rcds. The failure to locate either the M or B rcds leads me to believe that their rcds are still in the undigitized parts of Ireland. Suggest you wait until the database is more complete. Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg. Hope this helps. Good luck.
