GEORGE WILLIAM CAREY was born 1831 in we believe S.C. and died of wounds during the Civil War on Jan 2, 1865 near Franklin, Tenn. He was married to OTHELLA MELLISA SPEER in Bartow or Gordon Co., Ga. They had two children ALICE Carey and GEORGIA W.Carey (who married Thomas Tinsley).
George's father's name is unknown to me at present but according to the 1840 and 1850 U.S. census of Abbeville Co., S.C. his mother's name was JANE A.CAREY(Cary). Her children were of course GEORGE W.,WILLIAM, ROBERT,MARY J., JOHN, LAURA A., JAMES, LOUIS M. and SAMUEL. All help will be especially appreciated; I have been searching for a long time.
