ILLIOPOLIS - Roy Rex Carey, 64, of Illiopolis died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, at his home.
He was born June 1, 1942, in Alton, the son of James Edward and Perlina Mae Smith Carey. He married Genevieve Marie Blackwell in 1964 in Mechanicsburg. A son, Ricky Edward Carey, preceded him in death.
Mr. Carey was a branch manager for the Mechanicsburg Grain Co-op in Edinburg. He was a member of Illiopolis Christian Church and Illiopolis Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors: wife, Genevieve; daughter, Janet (husband, Kenneth) Smith of Illiopolis; son, Rex Carey of Illiopolis; two grandsons; six brothers, Max (wife, Harriett) and Jim (wife, Marvelle) Carey, both of Illiopolis, Jesse (wife, Dorothy) Carey of West Chicago, Jerry (wife, Linda) Carey of Buffalo, Frank (wife, Merlle) Carey of Woodburn, Ore., and Cleo (wife, Deloris) Carey of Waco, Texas; three sisters, Luella (husband, Dana) List of Springfield, Stella Ranger of Gillespie and Betty Drabing of Mount Pulaski; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Fullenwider-Park Funeral Home, Illiopolis, Jairrett Dickison officiating. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Illiopolis.
