I don't know where Derby, NY is, but my Carey's lived in Rondout, Ulster County NU in mid 1800's. Julia and Peter Carey were b. Ireland 1810. Dau. Johanna b. Ire. 1840, dau. Julia was b. NY 1846. Julia was the only Carey child we have not been able to locate.
Pension testimony in 1895 by her siser-in-law indicated she did not know were she was, only that Julia had left Ulster and "went west". Julia's other siblings include Peter jr. b. NY 1842, John b. 1846, Margaret b. 1847, James b. 1850, Mary b. 1853.
