Thanks again Frances for taking the time to look this up, you are a dear. Piece by piece I (we) are building a trail of Newton Carey's family group. What I call 'connect the dots research' and sometimes its the only way to document these hard to prove family groups. I have contacted the Osage County (MO) Historical Society and hope they can find the estate/probate file for Newton Carey....it is mentioned in an old genealogical book. Keep your fingers crossed, if someone found it years ago it has to be there somewhere. Their first check for it came up empty. The whole Nan/Ann thing sounds very possible. I had not thought of that. Saying Nan with an accent may have sounded like Ann. Good thought. Thats why census work is so important.....she switches back & worth between Nancy F. and Ann on different years but her kids stay the same so we know its the same woman. Weird. Take care, Marsha Notify Administrator about this message?
