More here and there... Went to library today; checked the 1865 KS census for Osage and douglas co. Not much help, but found 1865 Douglas co, Willow Springs Twp P.O. Willow Springs May 6-8, 1865 Sheet 3: Line 38, Aaron M. CARY 37 m Farmer RE:2000 PE:600 IN marr Line 39, Eliza 47 f KY marr Line 40, Elizabeth 14 f IN s May 8 sheet 4: line 1 Nancy C. CARY 10 f IN s both girls are in school. checked the Douglas Co KS Tombstone book (not correct title). Re: William Carey, 1907-1909 referernce. *W.H. CAREY born Stockbridge, CT March 1834 died March 9, 1908. [sorry, I put the wrong year on that last post]. Also listed with this WH is Abigail born CT. 1828 d.1894 Lawrence, KS. and Henry William born New Brittan CT 1870 died Lawrence, KS 1874. (This may not help on your search, but it will give you some idea on 'which' William was mentioned in the Douglas County, KS Court Records 1907-1908). Douglas Co, Territoral Obituaries [in same book]: Robert CAREY, Washington Creek (area in Douglas co.) murdered May 2, 1857. Not sure if would be 'yours', but could be. There are several CAREY/CARY listed in this book and I tried to write them all down, but I won't be able to list them all at once. Also GALLAGHER names, but not the ones you listed. There is an Octavia GALLAGHER, daughter of Thomas and Frances born 1878; perhaps she was named after the Octavia CARY born 1838 MO. I hope I got all this clear. Tried to proof-read, but am getting tired. More tomorrow, if I can. We will be going to eastern Mo, Saturday to pick up grandson, and still have a few things to do, so may not get back with you till Mon or Tues. Frances Notify Administrator about this message?
