This is wonderful, thanks Frances. It is indeed the same Carey family I found on the censuses I listed in my previous query. Love it when it all comes together. Soooo, our Charlotte's fathers name was really Newton. After hours of searching, I found today an old tree with another link to this puzzle. And it ties again to this 1865 KS census. ""Peter B. Gallager's Son James W. Gallagher married Virginia Carey, daughter of Newton." Probably how the marriage record read because the researcher knows who the 'Mother' is but doesnt cite it here. This same 'tree' cites: Newton Carey bn 1801 NC, married Ann Gallagher 18 Jun 1825 in Westmoreland, VA...remember that is where I had found Newton Carey for the 1830 census. Weird how Ann of the 1850 census becomes Nancy F. on the 1860 census, back to Ann on the 1865 census, and then Nancy F. on the 1870 census. But with the same kids listed, you can tell its the same family group. I am big on giving credit to other researchers and I am sorry to say that the 'tree' I found was an old one on Ancestry.com and no name or submitter info was listed. Although he does not list any other children for Newton & Ann Carey except Virginia, now we know some of the names thru later census records. But whoever he/she is, I owe them a big thanks. Providing me with another big piece for this family puzzle. Married in 1825 there are probably other children born to this union that were married and out of household by the 1850 MO, Osage Co census. This is what I call 'connect the dots research' :>). Putting this family group together one small peice of data at a time. This old tree also cites the Estate of Newton Carey, non resident of the State, was settled in Osage Co in 1865 Court Records. I am working on getting a copy of this. I promise to let you know if I am able to obtain a copy of it. Amazing, in three days I have been able to find the parents of my unknown Charlotte....and I owe a big thanks to you for that reply you sent me many years ago about the Carey/Hallmark connection. Without your imput I never would have been able to figure this all out. Thanks Marsha Notify Administrator about this message?
