On the 1859 census in Sussex Co, Delaware is the family of Sylvester Carey and then on the 1860 census is the same family in Fayette Co, IL. Ultimately this family ends up in Bond Co Il. I am descended from their oldest son David.

1850 Fayette Co Il census
Sylvester Carey b 1815 ub DE (head)
Ann Carey b. 1819 DE (his wife --maiden name Burbage)
David W. Carey 17 b 1842 DE
John Carey 16 B. De
Margaret Carey 14 b. DE
Samuel Carey 13 b. 1846 DE
Charley Carey b. 1851 DE
Mary M. Carey 6 b 1853 DE
Sarah Carey b. 1855 De
Joshua Carey b. 1858 DE

I believe that Sylvester Carey was the son of Peter Carey and his wife Margaret (maiden name unknown). Peter Carey died in 1859 and left his farm to his son John. Sylvester Carey is mentioned in the inventory. My great grandmother who was the daughter of David Carey and his wife Nancy Ann Laws was born in Kansas in 1874, went back to Bond Co to visit and stayed until her death in 1971. It seems to me that I answered something about this line awhile back. Is this the line where the Indian heritage was mentioned? Pamela
