Hello Melinda -
Thank you for writing. I do know of the family you have mentioned (having run into them myself), but am unable to connect them to my family yet.
Changes to my information, since the post you responded to are:
My grandmother Laura's parents' names were William CAREY and Kate (not Alice) STONE. Kate was also married to a FRANCIS and a BURT.
My Ggrandfather William's father was a John - which is why I have kept an eye on the family you mention. My William was born in 1855, so I still wonder if the Edmund is a brother. I have been unable to locate Kate and William's marriage certificate and I have been waiting for Ancestry.com to finish the 1870 census, or at least put Somerset County online. The entry above does list a William born in 1863, which would not fit, but one of them could have had William as a middle name and one as a first name - or the date could be wrong. Anyway - I am in a holding pattern with this family.
Kate and William would have married between 1893 (when William's first wife died) and 1896, when they were listed together as parents on a birth certificate. Or maybe they never legally married. BUT, their lives together basically took place in Huntworth, North Petherton, and later, Bridgwater.
Hope this is not too confusing.
Thanks again for writing.
Kim
