_______ Carey married Mary Ann Lankford 13 Dec 1842 (MB 11 Dec) in Nelson Co, VA. Marriage record does not show groom's first name. Nelson Co Marr Reg, Bk 2, p 42.
1850 census shows two Carey households (as Cary):
Frederic Cary age 60
Mary age 50
Rosanna age 26
Jordan age 23
If this is the right Mary, then it was a second marriage, the children being too old to have been born after a marriage 8 years before the census.
Mileah Carey age 66 carpenter
Peter M age 7
Mary Ann age 6
Because of the ages of the children and the name Mary Ann, they might be the issue of the 1842 marriage, with Mary Ann Lankford Carey having died. The age of Mileah, however, suggests that he was the grandfather rather than the father, leaving the name of his son still unknown.
Researching Lankford and trying to identify descendants to the generations of Elizabeth and her children.
Can any Carey researcher confirm or eliminate either head of household, or know the name of the missing groom?
