My wife's grandMom Cardwell was a Whiteside (dau. of Robert and Nancy) who married to William "Knock" Cardwell. Her dad was John Robert Cardwell. Like his Dad ("Knock"), he was a market gardener. Their farm was known as "Blossom Farm" and there is a street named after it (Blossom Lane). I've been to what is left of the old farm and had talked with an older local who used to hunt rabbits there and knew old "Knock" well. They had a few pints at the Highfield and played some darts together. Oddly, my wife's Aunt Margaret Cardwell married a Fred Whiteside of Blackpool and they had a number of children that might still live in your area. I'm also a Whiteside but, my family has been in the U.S. for many generations.
