Linking the Cardwell family together

All,

I've been working on linking the entire Cardwell family of America. This effort utilizes information gained from over 20 years of research, results from the Cardwell DNA Project, and the research provided to me from numerous Cardwell researchers.

The project is far from complete, but is really starting to take shape. So far, there are three distinct lines that have been identified through DNA results. The project breaks each of those lines into their respective family trees. Those trees are referred to as Cardwell Line I, Cardwell Line II and Cardwell Line III. As of 01 May 2008 there are over 10k Cardwell descendants and allied family members in those lines.

If you are researching your branch of the Cardwell family please contact me. I will check the database of the three lines and see if we can determine which one is yours. I would also appreciate some help in gathering photos, stories, bios, etc for the various Cardwell ancestors.

The project is available of Ancestry.com and I can send an invitation to anyone that is interested so that they can view and contribute.

I feel that by working together that we can resolve many of the "unlinked" Cardwell families. This information is being compiled in an open source format (aka free) so that present and future Cardwell researchers will be able to benefit from all the effort that has been put into the research of this family.

Also, we are always looking for male Cardwells for the DNA Project. We have representatives from several lines that have joined this research effort, but there are many lines that still have not been tested. By joining the Cardwell DNA Project you are able to receive a discount on the regular pricing from FTDNA. We have some funding available to assist in the cost of the kit for those that might have a financial hardship.

I look forward to hearing from many of the researchers on this forum and look forward to your contributions to the project. The Cardwell family has some interesting history and by working together we can compile that information for all researchers.

Sincerely,
Rand Cardwell
