Charlene: My paternal grandfather Bento Cardoza also came from Terceira in 1884 when he was 18 - jumped a whaler in San Francisco Bay and eventually settled in San Lorenzo. He married Leutina Garcia Faria of Faial - when and where I don't know as yet. Their children Joseph Edward, Maria, Julia, August, Rita, Frank, Ben (my Dad) and Charles Laurence. Perhaps some of your relatives will recognize some of the names. I have no information on my grandfather's Terceira relatives but I'm still looking. I was hoping your GPop may have been a brother or cousin.
