I am from Merced CA. My grandmother was Marie Amaro married to John Cardoza (Los Banos). She was from the Azores (Terceria)sp? I know they are different people but maybe related. I hear my Grandpa's Father and brother came over together. The family name was Sequera (sp)1 came as Sequera the other took his mother's maiden name of Cardozo and changed the 'O' to 'A'. Something to do with the number of family members able to immigrate.Anyway, let me know if you know anything or if any of this sounds familiar.
