Jewell Cardinal Funeral services for Jewell Cardinal, 93, of Lexington were held July 14, 2008 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Todd Johnson officiating. Interment was at Hillside Cemetery under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. Mrs. Cardinal died July 10, 2008 at the Carl Albert Indian Hospital in Ada. She was born July 13, 1914 in Kingston, Okla., the second of seven children of Emmet Guess and Willie May (Crabtree) Guess. At an early age they moved to Purcell. She later met a young man from Purcell named Leo Cardinal. Together they reared three children, a son, Leo Jr. and two daughters, Carmen and Delores. They moved to Arizona for a brief time and then to Manteca, Calif., where Mr. Cardinal worked in construction. Mrs. Cardinal was a homemaker and a member of the Purcell Church of the Nazarene. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Phillip Cardinal, Sr.; her parents; three brothers and a son-in-law, Jerry Bishop. Survivors include her son, Leo Cardinal Jr. and his wife, Ruby, of Lexington; two daughters, Carmen Bishop of Bullhead City, Ariz., and Delores Mitchell and her husband, V.D., of Purcell; one sister, Jean Duvall of Bull Head City, Ariz.; two brothers, Ernest Guess of Purcell and Merle Guess of Bakersfield, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Leo Cardinal III, James Cardinal, Kyle Cardinal, James Cardinal Jr., John Cardinal and David Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers were Leo Cardinal Jr., Leo Phillip Cardinal IV, Don Cardinal, V.D. Mitchell and Boyce Blackshear.
