For anyone that is interested, I have discovered two things about the Cardinal family. 1) it is a Sephardic Jewish surname and we are originally of Jewish descent (go to Sephardim.com), and 2) at least two of the men in this bloodline are listed on Metis/Obijwe Native sites and on land tract listings in Canadian archives, listed as being "half-breeds", ie. some of the men married Natives.
