Has anyone located a source for the names of the parents of Jean Marie Cardinal, b. 1730 in Quebec; d. 1780 in Missouri. Scanlan's book about the founding of Prairie Du Chien suggests Pierre Cardinal and Marie Matou but their last child was born in 1710 (according to Tanguay) so I think that parentage is unlikely. Tanguay has a Jean Marie Cardinal b. 1730 in Lachine to Jean Cardinal and Marie Louise Massiot. Does anyone know if he is the correct one? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
