I don't want to get anyone's hopes up (including mine) but I think the Mary Cardiff listed here is my ggrandmother...my grandmother tells me her parents...
Angus Martin married Mary Cardiff, they lived in Nova Scotia until my grandmother was about 9 months old and then they moved to America. I don't know very much more about Mary but Angus I know was an elevator operator in New York and died of complications after an accident he had in a subway. I believe they lived in PA and also New Jersey before they lived in NY...could be wrong though. They had 12 children:
Marie
Malcom
Gus
John Thomas (killed in Guada Canal?)
Tom (drowned in Hudson River)
Winifred (married Joe Wortman)
Florence (married Ed Masterson, had two children, Susan and Joan)
Jackie
Chili (sp??)
Two others of their children died as infants
Claire Alban (or Alban Claire, who is my grandmother) Mary had her in her late 40's. Claire had my father John Thomas Martin in 1949 and Catherine Hair (now Blessing) in 1956ish. My father died in 2000, he never knew is father and I don't think he kept in contact with many people from his mother's side accept Florence. My grandmother is still alive and doesn't like giving me any information so this is all I have...From what she's said I think she's the only one alive from her family...
My Grandmother has a pretty interesting story to tell but I'll go into that another time and if my hunch is right about this connection...let me know if you think there is...I'm anxiously awaiting your response...if you post something here will I receive a notice on my email?
