I have been looking for a reference that specifically says that William and Joshua are brothers. I cant find a census that lists these boys together as brothers. Similar age, name and location probably mean that they are related. I just cant find a for sure source that says they are bros and that George is Williams father like it is stated that he is Joshua's father. When I saw that Abbot (1770) had 2 sons by his first wife(total 21 kids from 3 wives!) and that an uncle took them with him to Ohio about 1798 when Abbot remarried, It made sense to question if this is the William living beside Joshua. Do you have a census listing William and Joshua as George's sons? I have been to carderweb(thanks:)) and your lengthy and excellent article on the Carder Tippy line(wonderful). I am just having problems with the link between George Carder and William. My line comes from William. This line has definite Amerindian features and my Grandpa said (I think, it was a long time ago) that we had Chippewa blood in us. But is is probably Shawnee considering all of the locations the family lived. Any information on William would be greatly appreciated, esp as to his biological father.
Thanks so much...Marsha
