Yes, Joshua's (born 1810) father was named George. Have you been over to carderweb.com? If you look at the page Descendants of George Carder (1777?-1849?) of Virginia and Ohio http://www.carderweb.com/GeorgeofWilliam.asp

On that page it states "Joshua Carder is definitely George Carder’s son, and it could be speculated that William Carder is also George Carder’s son. Both William and Joshua Carder moved to Whitley County, Indiana, in the 1840s and lived next to one another there."
