John D. Carden was the oldest child of Albert L. and Mary E. The other children, in order of birth were Tom, Robert, George, Henry, Oscar, Ocie, Irene, Marion (aka Bruce), Mandy, and Lavene. Ocie, Jim, Bruce, and Mandy are all that remain. Jim is my father and was born Feb 19, 1919. John, or Johnny as the family called him actually lived in a little town called Frogeye as I recall. We used to visit when I was a small boy (I am now 46). I believe that the town name was changed a few years ago to Gantts Quarry, though I am guessing. Gantt's Quarry is in the right place on the map because I remember that Fayetteville was nearby and there is no Frogeye on my Alabama map anywhere in the state. Jim lives in Prattville, Ocie in Pensacola, Mandy just up the road in Childersburg, and Marion/Bruce, is still in the Coosa/Tallagega area, I believe. As I recall, Johnny probably did work in the Sylaucauga textile mills. My father remembers that Johnny was born in 1902, not 1904 and that Albert L.'s younger brother was named Benjamin. According to my father, Benjamin also lived in Coosa County. My father does not think that Benjamin was a Junior, but dosen't recall Albert L.'s father's name, so you must be right on the name. Albert Lee (nee Leroy, he changed it to Lee because he didn't like Leroy) was married to Mary Elizabeth Castle. According to family legend, Albert's father was murdered when Albert L. was a young man by a man who was hunted down and hanged by a vigilante mob. Benjamin was also supposedly wounded. Don't know where this was supposed to have taken place and have never researched it, but have always wondered if anyone knew if it was true. Finally, John D. should have children still living, but I don't recall any of their names. My father should know them.
