I’m looking for information on my GGG-grandfather Asa Carden. I’m relatively sure his parents were John & Frances Carden and that he was born in GA about 1820 (1818-1824 depending on the census). He married Susan Winkles in 1855 in Talladega, AL and according to the census reports from 1850, 60, 70 & 80, he lived there through 1880 with the that census being the last confirmable documentation of him.
I did find an “A. Carden” on the Civil War Soldiers & Sailors site as being with the 31st Regiment, AL Infantry. There is also a listing for Asa Carden on Ancestry’s Confederate Pension & Service record from 1891-1895 and 3 listings for Asa Corden 1901-02.
Asa’s son Thomas was my GG-grandfather. Thomas married in 1885 and moved to northwest Florida where his son (Asa’s grandson) Richard was born in Florida in 1887.
