Thank you SO much.In the meantime, do you remember offhand which county and state the marriage record was found?That would dramatically narrow the search for me.I've searched and searched every way and place I know how, but found nothing at all.
I've ordered copies of the Albert Grogan testimony portion of the court case.Can't wait to read it.

I'm interested in the sentence --
there is a section about his brother John in the book, the History of Polk Co. Tn..........his name was John J. Carden Sr. , John was married to Elizabeth Grogan.
Is the book mentioned Goodspeed's History of Thirty East Tennessee Counties, 1887, reprinted in 1991?
Again, I've searched and searched and only found the bio in Monroe County for Larkin Cardin, but it doesn't include his siblings, only his parents.
