Thanks very much for your reply. The only way I have of giving Sarah's maidian name is from my aunts who are the daughters of Sarah and Richard's daughter Essie. They have always said her name was Cynthia Carden. When I looked up the census records it really became confusing. There are two children listed that I never heard of. Cinthae Akins and Isaac B. Akins are shown in the 1900 census of Jackson County, Ala. and my grandmother's name is listed as Etha instead of Essie. She was born in 1894 and this shows 1893. On the 1910 census it shows Isaac as a stepson and James as a grandson. I don't know which is right. It also still shows Sarah as a wife and it shows her as being older that Richard. Richard's death certificate was from Alabama from Jackson County and Flatrock as the city. He died in 1938. It shows his father as William Akins mother unknown. He was buried in Newby Cemetery. I can't find this cemetery listed in the Jackson County web site. Since he was remarried to Kissie at that time I don't know if she would have burried him with Sarah. He was remarried sometime between 1910 and 1920 because in 1920 he had another wife named Kissie.
Finding proof of Sarah is what I would really like to do. I have it on Richard who my aunts always said was Dick but I have nothing but census records and my aunts for Sarah.

Thanks for your help and any suggestions would be appreciated. I would like to find thier marriage record if possible and maybe that would help. Linda
