I am thinking that your Sarah Carden/Cardin was the daughter of the Monroe County Tennessee CARDIN families.. From all indications she was probably the daughter of Leonard Cardin and Synthia HENSON Cardin. Synthia was his second wife. There was a court case after the death of both Leonard and Synthia Cardin dated in 1906 that includes one of the children named Sarah who had married Richard Akins..it says that Sarah Akins was still alive in 1906 but gives no indication as to where she was living at the time. I have researched the different Cardin/Carden families for about 35 years and this Leonard Cardin is a member of my husband's Cardins. Leonard's first wife's name has been given as Tabitha but I can find noone with proof of that except for the fact it was found in the book "Southern Cousins". Your Sarah is given as the daughter of the second wife Synthia HENSON Cardin in an application for an Indian Claim Application filed Stonewall Jackson Cardin (to the best of my memory the claim was denied..I think he filed as the HENSONs having Indian blood..As I say I believe this is your Sarah. The 1910 Jackson County Alabama gives Isaac as being the stepson of the head of household (Richard) and this census also shows James age 10 as being a grandson as the best I can read it. May I ask....where did you find Sarah's maiden name as Carden..do you have records to that effect" Also, I notice on another screen where you say Richard Akins died in the 1930s...Does his death certificate show the name of the cemetery where he is buried (name of cemetery, where he died, etc? Was it in Jackson County Alabama. Perhaps we can find when Sarah died and where she is buried? The 1900 census shows Sarah and Richard married 17 years..would this mean that Cinthia and Isaac were by a first wife? Bobbie
