Greetings Carbine cousins! My paternal grandmother was Ruby Theresa Carbine Bunker. She was the eldest of two daughters born to Stephen Carbine and Kate (Catherine) McVay Carbine of Michigan Bar, CA. Stephen's parents (who also settled in Michigan Bar) were Patrick and Bridgit Carbine. Ruby's sister was Margaret, a.k.a. "Retta" wholater married (and divorced at least once); her last married surname was Brown. Kate McVay Carbine bore one other child (stillborn, male -- I think) who would have been the youngest. There are a few of "us" out here in the Far West. I'm currently a Portland, OR resident. Direct Carbine cousins are in San Rafael, CA, Elk Grove, CA and Corning, CA. Another is in the US Foreign Service in the Middle East. Nearly all who've predeceased us -- including my parents' ashes -- are buried in a rural cemetery near Michigan Bar. Grandma Ruby, however, is buried alongside her husband Harry's remains in Folsom, CA - St. John's Catholic Church cemetery. I'm not recalling where Retta Carbine Brown was interred.
