Hey Folks,
I'm new at the genealogy thing, but with the help of the LDS Church website and the Social Security Death Index, I traced myself back to a Stephen Capwell of Warwick, Kent, Rhode Island, born 1690. I'm a direct descendent of him. He's my grandfather's grandfather, grandfather's etc., etc. You get it. My mother's maiden name is Capwell, so I just started there and worked my way through the records marriage, birth and death chain, making sure it all stayed consistent. I guess William Dexter Capwell made his way from Rhode Island sometime in the mid 1800s to Northern CA. He was one of 14 kids who went all different directions. Penn, Tenneessee, you name it. He was my grandfather's grandfather. I guess that's why I'm from Eureka, CA. He settled in Ferndale and farmed, I believe.
If anybody has genealogy software, I'm more than willing to share my GEDCOM file with you. I'm just about finished getting it together.
