Damon,
My husband corrected me.He stayed with "Bud" Capps family not Bert's family. It was probably in 1940.He joined the Navy in 1941 (he was 16).He was probably named after your Bud Capps becausr his name is Fred and the family has always called him "Buddy".This family is a great one for passing names from generation to generation.Fred's line looks like this:
George Washington Capps b.10 May 1856 m. Hester A. Farmer 5 Sept 1884 d. 9 Mar 1924
Children:
Jessie Anna Capps F b. 10 Sept 1885
Moudy M. Capps F b. 10 Mar 1887 d.8 sept 1888
Eddie Capps m b. 1888 d. 1888
William Columbus Capps m b.12 Sept 1892 d. 10 Oct 1970 (Fred's Father)
John Robert Capps m b.4 May 1895 d. 3 Nov 1977
Andy Lonzo Capps m b. 24 Oct 1897 d. 19 Apr 1962

Children:
Judy(daughter of Laura.Fred adopted her)
Elaine Bee Capps f b. 25 Aug 1950
Sylvia Denise Capps f b. 11 July 1952
Fred and Laura divorced about 1971.
Fred's second wife was Ivon Alexander. They had no children and divorced about 1981.Fred and I married in Aug 1985.We have no children together although I have one son who considers Fred his father.
Several years ago we took Fred's sister Wilma to see Stella Mae.On the way we picked up another lady who was a sister-in-law to Stella Mae.I don't remember her name but I am wondering if she was your grandmother. At the time Stella Mae's husband was very ill.We had a good visit.Fred and Stella Mae hadn't seen or even talked to each other since he had stayed at their house in 1940.Are these two ladies still living?Stella Mae was the last of Bud's children still living.
I would like to know more about the Ramsours.I searched for years for the Capps line.My sister-in-law, Wilma, didn't give me much to go on but she had copied some names and dates out of an old bible. From time to time she would throw me another little tidbit.Eventually I found them in MO.I don't know where they were in 1880.By 1891 they were in Indian Territory. The name Ramsour was one of the names that she gave me but until about a year ago I didn't know whose name it was.
I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks for sharing an interest in the Capps line.
Lana
