Dr. John Caplinger's son, Cornelius Caplinger, was "born: 11 May 1828. He married Barbara Zetty/Setty, Franklin Twp., Adams Co., OH., 26 Feb. 1842. They had 2 sons." (Source: Memoirs of My Ancestry, p. 103, by Velma Roades Trant - this excerpt was sent to me by Tom King, who is also researching the Caplinger line). I have not yet found any information of the names of his 2 sons, but by the date of his marriage to Barbara Zetty/Setty, it is possible that your Cornelius could have been a grandson to Dr. John Caplinger. I hope that this helps!
