Jacob Caplinger Married Barbara Reager or Hanks??

It seems to be accepted that Jacob Caplinger, b. 4/22/1773 married Barbara ?? in 1798. Further, there is some reason to believe that Barbara ?? was born in 1778. Many references indicate that Jacob married Barbara REAGER. Other references indicate that he married Barbara HANKS. Could this be a case where perhaps a Barbara Reager was first married to a Hanks and then to a Mr Reager before marrying Jacob Caplinger. The reverse might also be the case. Does anyone have an answer to this one? Thank you.
