In your post Dated: August 04, 2006, you noted that your "Great Grandmothers name was MELVA Caplinger".
According to the several a family trees posted at Ancestry.com..
William "ALTON" Caplinger b. 12 Jun 1908, Highland, Ohio, USA was married 21 Jan 1929 to "MELVA" Lewis b. 15 Oct 1909 Greene, Ohio.
Perhaps none of these people are your ancestors, but you might look at all of the possibilities & try to get some documents that either "prove or disprove" your family stories. Family stories are sometimes accurate, but more often they are not. Without correct names, dates, (birth & death) places & some documentation you will never learn the truth & no one will be able to help you.
