Wow, this IS a find. I wonder what happened to Rebecca's mother and father?
What is rather curious is that there are two young girls with different last names living in the same household:
Rebecca Murphy, age 13
Margaret Jones, age 9
I don't know anything of the Bell family...does that census say anything about the relationships of each person to the head of household? I am particularly curious as to Mary's relation to the older man in the house. If she is a daughter-in-law, I'll have to discover her maiden name...that may yield a big clue.
One would think that girls so young would not be living with strangers. Perhaps Rebecca and Margaret are living with an aunt and her father (the 90 yr old Bell)?
Perhaps Rebecca and Margaret are also cousins?
Okay...I'll stop guessing and I'll do some searching on last name combinations to see if I can find a Murphy-Bell, or Jones-Bell marriage. If it's there, it's bound to turn up.
