I am still trying to identify the father of my John B. Caplener (b. TN circa 1803, d. 1850 Phillips Co., Ark). I'm getting closer as explained below.I recently learned the children's names of another John, brother to Jacob Caplinger (b. 22 Apr1773 Hardy Co., VA). None of his children's names qualify thus eliminating John and his children from my directline. My search is now confined to two remaining candidates: (1) John (b. 27Dec1802), son of Jacob, and (2) George, brother to Jacob. The first candidate is the most likely because of his birth date, but there is a possible middle name conflict. One researcher states that John's (son of Jacob) middle name is 'Trumbow'. My personal research shows my John's middle initial to be 'B'. Someone has suggested that maybe "Bow" was his nickname which might account for the "B" in his death records. Do you know anything about the name 'Trumbow', his possible nickname, or where he lived? Do you have the identity of his spouse(s) and children, if any? The second candidate, George, is of equal importance. I know nothing about him other than he was a brother to Jacob. Except for George Caplinger and John Trumbow Caplinger, I have ruled out the remainder of Jacob's siblings and Jacob's issue. Do you have any information concerning George (brother to Jacob) and his children (if any).
