James william Capes was my great grandfather born in Old Buckham Norfolk in 1841 the son of Frederick Capes(b 1817) and Mary Sivil(b1817) both also born in Old Buckham.
Frederick Capes was a corn merchant as well as being the local Church curator.

James was a railway porter when he married Harriet Woolnough Dec 26th 1863 at the parish church Tunstall in Suffolk.

They did indeed have seven children Frederick, Charles Allen (my grandfather), Mary, John L Capes, Esther and James William. When Charles was born the family were living at 27 Brewer Street Pimlico.

Both My grandfather Charles and his brother James served in the army I have attestation papers for them both.

If you have any information with respect to any descendants of James William Capes I would be grateful if you could contact me.

I have a photograph of either Charles or his brother James in military uniform and would be grateful for any one who may be able to inform me which one it is.

Regards
Terry Cull (my mothers maiden name was Capes)
