Ruth Dunlap Brackett: We need to know more about Margaret Canupp. Bob has nothing in his data base for a Ben Shelton, Will Shelton, Sand Hill, or William Henry Dunlap. We have a lot of very interesting information on one Margaret Canup who was a Cherokee Indian, but I'm not sure this is the same Margaret. Do you know anything else about her? The Margaret we are speaking of was a Margaret Moore, who was a christianized indian, and took the surname of Moore from her adopted family. Later she married Jacob Canup. She had to have special dispensation to marry a white, since she was an indian. Let us know if you have anything else regarding Margaret. Regards, Maggie and Bob Canup
