Dear Ron:
I am a descendant of Cantys and Merritt's my
Grandfathers name Walter Merritt and he married my Grandmother Josephine Canty, I have a 1880 census of Canty's living and my
Grandmother is the next to the youngest of
12 children, I don't have it right here in front of me, but I'll bring it to work with me tomorrow, my Aunt Gloria in Detroit and my Aunt Ola in California are the only two living siblings of Walter Merritt and Josephine Canty, my Fathers name was Solomon
Merritt, trying to really locate some of the
Canty relatives, on the 1880 census my grnadmother had a sibling younger than her and my grandmother was 3 or 4 at that time, so the sister or brother under her might have
some living children since two of my Grandmothers children are still living even
though both my aunts are in their eighties,
but I tell you the name Nelson sounds familiar and Hannah, and so tomorrow I will
send you the names of my Grandmothers parents
from the 1880 census, my Aunt Glorias daughter in Detroit found the census and gave
me a copy I live in Cleveland, Ohio. Hope their is a connection, need to know more of
my maternal grandmothers family history, they
were indians also, and lived in hooper city
Ala. My e-mail
