My grandfather is leroy canty, son of lazell canty, who is the son of john alonzo canty who is the child of thomas whitesides and anita scott canty. Im not really sure why he chose to have his mothers last name instead of his fathers. But yeah thats about as far as I got. Actually found out the name canty came into the catawba nation from an irish settler in south carolina so its origin is actually irish.
