Thanks Russell for responding. William's daughter reponded shortly after the original posting. Her Dad, still very much with us, was the controller. During my mother's school days near the end of WWII, she and Mr. Canty corresponded for several years, in the "send a letter to a soldier" style. Cleaning out her house, the letters were found and I was able to return them to the original sender.
Mr. Canty couldn't remember exactly who Mom was, but, her address was still listed in his military stuff. Mr Canty went on to become the chief at Dulles Airport in Virginia.
