My grandfather is William Coy Canty, from Roswell, NM. However, he was a fireman in the Air Force (pretty sure post WW-II era since my father specifically said Air Force instead of Air Corps). He has lived the past 40 or so years in Alemeda California. He might be the son or a namesake (nephew or cousin maybe?) of the person you are looking for.
