I am a Canty from West Texas (Midland, to be exact). However, my father William was borne in Los Angeles in the early 50's, and the only thing I know about his father (William also) was that he lived his whole life in the LA Valley. Only reason I ended up in Texas was because my mother moved back there after my parent's divorce in 1981. I have not seen another Canty in the West Texas area.
Nobody along my father's line seems to know or care about our name, which leads me to believe that maybe we belong to a "black sheep" so to speak.
