I'm afraid Edward is the earliest Canty I know of. During and after WW2 many families moved away from the East End, or to different areas, and the Cantys were the one branch of the family who have lost touch with the rest. I know that Edward's son Teddy and his family moved to Bedfordshire but as far as I know they didn't keep in touch with any other branch of the family.

In the 1901 census Edward and Catherine were living at 6 Pell Place, St. Georges in the East, Edward was a dock labourer and had been born in St. Georges in the East.
