My Canty's are from St George in the East. My earliest Canty is Cornelius b. 1821 St G E. I do have a William b. 1865 ST G E who moved to Bethnal Green by the time of the 1901 census.

Have you gone back farther than 1882? Have you found William's parents? If you would like I can check the 1881 and 1871 census for you.
