I recently came across another reference to a John A. Canty in the Civil Court Minutes of Harris County, Texas for 1837-1840.
Dated April 24, 1837, a case titled "John A. Canty vs. Sloop Ohio" was dismissed by the plaintiff by Thos. J. Garby or Garley, his attorney. No other pertinent information was included in the minutes.
I'm still seeking information on this John A. Canty.
