Hi Robert. I've been looking for you. Anyway, I know how you are related to me. May be related more than once. I am also a Rios as well as a Cantu. Although the information I'm going to give you makes it that we are related by marriage, I am sure that we as Cantu's are related more than once since they say all Cantu's are related. I am a Cantu both on my mother's side and on my father's side. You ask about that family. Well, Silvestre was my great grandfather. He was left we think by French soldiers in Genral Bravo at the age of about 11. It has been difficult to find any information on him. His last name was Frazelle (correct spelling unknown). I have checked the census in the United States and the Republic of Texas for the year 1850 using Soundex (by sound). Could not find him. Thought perhaps he was kidnapped by Indians as was done around that time but have not found anything. He probably went to Mexico via a Mexican port or was born in Mexico. Do not know why he was left in General Bravo. The French had registers (census)in whatever country their men were living but the census on the women and children were not that good. I have asked a cousin to find out if he could check the census in Monterrey to see if they have copies of these registers. The family that "adopted" him are the ones mentioned above. He used the name Cantu and he had a daughter named Francisca also who was my grandmother. He was born in 1846 and married a Rumalda Rios Cantu. He remarried at age 65 to a woman named Jesusa?? and had two more children, Benito and Clarita. His kids from his first marriage were Maria Francisca (my grandmother), Florencio Cantu, Marcilina Cantu and Rosario Cantu (male). His adoptive father was Francisco Cantu and his mother was Ignacia Cantu.
