Hi Sergio, I have come to the conclusion that it is very possible. Look up Sephardic Jews in the internet and look up Sephardic Jews of Northern Italy. I looked up this one site: http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/History/italytime.html

Also, I looked at when the first recorded Cantu's first arrived in Mexico:

Also, there was an Inquisition in Mexico and the Sephardic Jews were afraid to live anywhere near the Mexican central government. A lot of them left and went into the far reaches of what was then Mexico - Calif., Arizona, New Mexico, Texas (such as San Antonio), and also Colorado.
