Mexico French & Spanish Colonies

I am searching for the Arizpe-Cantu side of my family. My information is very vague, but here it goes anyway:

Apparently, back when Napoleon was in charge there were a few French and Spanish colonies in Mexico. My great-great-great grandparents came from these colonies. We lived a lot of history and stayed in Mexico.

From there it appears that an African slave escaped from America into Mexico. She became my great grandmother (possibly great-great). We do not know her real name, only that her husband named her Paloma because she had flown away like a dove to find peace. Romantic, right? :)

If any of this strikes a chord with you please contact me. I want so much to find my ancestors for myself and my children to meet.

Muy amables,
Delfina Bernucca (Arizpe-Cantu-Alaniz)
