My grandfather's name was Marcelo Cantu. I remember being told he used to live on his mother's ranch near the rio grande. He used to own a produce company until the Great Depression and then he moved to Houston. I was also told of a rumor that there was some connection to the jewish spaniards from Spain who settled the valley.
