Dear J. Carlos:

Hi! As I mentioned in my previous posting, I am blessed with an extensive family, most of whom originate from Cong. Cantu and now live in Monterrey.

If you recall a while back, say 10 years ago, there was a mad rush by the Cantu and other families from Nuevo Leon to Texas, to document formally the family origins. The reason for the documentation was to claim some land with oil in Texas. That I know of, nothing was gained, except for the documentation of a certain branch of Cantu genealogy -- which I think was really the best part anyway! I was told that about 2000 people showed up in Alice, TX for the claim. Does anyone remember this?

Anyway, JCarlos, I can try to help you, if you can give me your Cantu family names. E-mail me directly at peckar@mediaone.net. By the way, I go back about once a year and I can't wait to go again to that remote paradise.

Juana
