I, James Alfred Miller, Jr., of Southport, N.C., descend William Cantey and wife Jane Baker by their daughter Mary Cantey who wed Capt. William Bellinger, Sr. (son of Sir Edmund Bellinger, Sr., Landgrave (of Tombodly Barony and Ashepoo Barony), Attorney-General of South Carolina, Surveyor-General of South Carolina, master of the ship "Blake" which brought the first cattle to S.C. (in the service of Landgrave Blake). Mrs. Mary Cantey Bellinger had Mrs. Elizabeth Bellinger Yonge, wife of the Hon. Henry Yonge, Sr., Loyalist, H.M. Surveyor-General of Georgia, and son of the Hon. Francis Yonge, Lords Proprietor's Surveyor-General of the Bahamas, Carolinas, and Georgia. Henry Sr's other wife Christiana Bulloch, was the sister of Patriot Gov. Archie Bulloch of Ga. Mrs. Elizabeth Bellinger Yonge's son, Maj. Henry Yonge, Jr., Loyalist, was H.M. Attorney-General of British East Florida, and as such, canceled the indentures of over 1,000 New Smyrna Beacch, Fla., Minorcans, and commanded a company of them, at St. Augustine, Florida, with his brother, my ancestor, Capt. Philip Yonge, Loyalist, H.M. Surveyor-General of Georgia. Henry Jr's plantation is now Ormond, Florida; it's Public Library on Yonge Street, there. The Philip Keyes Library of History, Univ. of Fla. at Jacksonville, is named for Henry Jr's descendant. Philip wed Christian Mackenzie, daughter of Capt. Wm. Mackenzie, in 1775 H.M. Comptroller and Collector of Customs, Sunbury, Georgia, and brother of George, Third Earl Cromartie, Chromarty, Scotland, who's daughter wed "Signer" Middleton of Georgia. Mrs. Christian Mackenzie Yonge had Eliza Claudia Yonge who wed first, Richard Bradley, Jr., of Wilmington, N.C.My grandfather was Edw. Yonge Wootten of Wilmington.Mrs. Jane Baker Cantey was the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Wilson Baker.One of them was of noble lineage. Jim
