McPherson got this completely wrong in his book. Ruth Canterbury deeded the land to a Sydnor (and not a Snider) & John Kincheloe's name does NOT appear on that deed at all. I went to the original records at the Richmond County Clerk's office & saw the deed. No John Kincheloe on the deed. What you do see is that Ruth'sson and daughter in law sign the deed-- they are John Canterbury, Jr & his wife Elizabeth. No John Kincheloe name is on that deed. Someone doing this work either by accident or by intention confused John Canterbury, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth (who was a Smith) with John Kincheloe and his own wife Elizabeth. The land the Canterbury's had on Totuskey Creek is about a mile & a half away from the Kincheloe land (Cornelius & John's 100 acres).
